I'm thinking that the new-world may be an open one. Particularly, this tidbit from the leaked description:
"Set sail on the glistening water in your island canoe, swim to your heart’s content, and explore the scenery on a watercraft."
Couple it with the fact that the game is getting 64-bit update -- making this the only EP unusable for the 32-bit users -- I think that the possibility of an open-world exclusive EP is now likely. I mean, ocean swimming seems to be coming. Did the Gurus ever state what the 64-bit update was for in particular..?
My speculation is this:
The little "neighborhoods" that usually come with an EP world will be openly explorable via water, and the water crafts shown will be means of transportation.
Additionally, if this is the case, I speculate that we'll get a first-person navigation feature with these vehicles. (The player can drive can drive the boats..?)
